New Anthology Presents African Women "Writing Resistance" Special to NNPA from the Global Information Network In personal narratives, testimony, interviews, short stories, poetry, folktales and performance scripts, a new anthology - Women Writing Resistance - spotlights women's strategies of resistance to the challenges they face in Africa today. Links of London U Charm presents women's writing on such issues as the degradation of the environment, polygamy, domestic abuse, the controversial traditional practice of female genital cutting, Sharia law, intergenerational tensions, emigration, and exile. Contributors include internationally recognized authors and activists such as Wangari Maathai and Nawal El Saadawi, as well as new voices from the African continent and the African Diaspora. "The book is a timely contribution, capturing a diverse range of responses to the struggles of African women today," writes Dr. Carole Boyce Davies of Cornell University. The book is co-published by Pambazuka Press and the Links of London V Charm of Wisconsin Press.
